Area Medical FacilitiesSeveral small medical and dental offices are located in the East Mountains to meet the needs of your health. McLeod Medical Center, a nearby clinic, is equipped with a physician, chiropractor, and two certified nurse practitioners. The clinic, located in Moriarty, offers X-ray, glucose, and cholesterol tests. A 24-hour answering service enables patients to contact their physicians when the clinic is closed. There is a helicopter pad located eight minutes from San Pedro Overlook. The Albuquerque area has three major hospitals that offer extensive medical services: University of New Mexico Hospital, Presbyterian Healthcare Services, and Lovelace Sandia Health Systems. University of NM HospitalUNM Hospital is the only “Level One” trauma emergency center in the state. The medical training facility is made up of six hospitals and 15 clinics. Currently the University is adding a Children’s Hospital to the facility that will enable physicians and nurses to provide the most advanced care in the state. Lifeguard One Air Emergency Services is based at UNM Hospital and transfers patients in urgent or life-threatening situations by helicopter to an appropriate hospital. A fixed-wing air ambulance service provides air transportation to patients from area hospitals to other hospitals around the state. This unique hospital provides some of the most advanced care not only in the state of New Mexico, but around the nation. Presbyterian HostpitalPresbyterian Hospital is a 453-bed facility that has just completed a multi-million dollar expansion. They are the largest provider of birthing services, welcoming more than 4,800 new babies into the world every year. Presbyterian is also the second largest private employer in New Mexico with more than 7,500 employees. The hospital has been recognized for great healthcare in the state by being named among the top 100 cardiology programs in the nation, most preferred for overall healthcare quality and image, and is one of the 100 most wired hospitals in the country. Lovelace Sandia Health SystemLovelace Sandia Health System is comprised of four acute care hospitals, a rehabilitation hospital, six pediatric clinics, and fifteen neighborhood health care centers in New Mexico. The Women’s Hospital is a unique place for women’s healthcare in New Mexico. Part of the Lovelace network, the hospital provides a breast imaging center, family birthing services, and even an intensive care unit. Lovelace is one of the top 20 largest employers in the state. The Heart Hospital of New MexicoThe Heart Hospital of New Mexico is the state’s only hospital dedicated to cardiac care. The Heart Hospital and the Heart Institute opened their doors in 1999 and are now located near downtown Albuquerque. They offer a full service emergency room that is open seven days a week, 24 hours a day. |
